OFM Awards 2017

I again had the pleasure of collaborating with OFM for their awards issue. This time I was sent to photograph the winners of the Ethical award, the team behind Cooking for Syria and the lovely and talented Meera Sodah for Best Book.

The problem with the team behind Cooking for Syria was that I had to photograph the food critic Clerkenwell Boy anonymously. Having the lovely publisher and philanthropist Serena Guen in the shot mad it a little easier to create something visually interesting.

The commission to shoot Meera Sodah came a little later, and I was desperate to come up with an idea shooting her with her book. Once in a blue moon you get the commissions to photograph someone with a book, It’s ok if you have an atmospheric room/book shelf but if you’re in a studio then these shots can often be dull. So, late one night, as I was drifting in and out of sleep it came to me. Books flying! Wooden spoons as heads! Straws that made beaks! Cocktail umbrella tails! And, fork feet!!! Never mind flying pigs, we have flying birds!!
