Lin-Manuel Miranda is the creator and star behind the hugely successful musical Hamilton. The musical has just opened in the UK after a few years of sold out performances on Broadway and having received several of awards for its performance and music. Although Lin-Manuel starred in the Broadway version of the show, the West End will have an all new cast and Lin-Manuel will not be performing. Lin-Manuel was only here to help with the final days preparations before curtain opening.
Lin-Manuel has been a notable composer, actor, singer, playwright and lyricist for many years but it is really Hamilton which has seen him launch into stardom. Lin-Manuel is also preoccupied with aid work for the people who’ve suffered from the destruction of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico in 2017. Although born and bread in New York he has family living in Puerto Rico.
The idea of the shoot was to give some hint to the theatre without actually being in the theatre. To depict Lin-Manuel in the theatre might send the wrong message and mislead people into thinking he is actually performing in the London show. I therefore created a little theatrical lighting and borrowed a little of theatrical red. A theatre feel some may say, whilst some may argue that it has an element of the opening scene of a bugs bunny film and the Merry Melody. Nhehehe – That’s all folks!!!
