The Michelin star chef Massimo Bottura released a book called ‘never trust a skinny chef’. I wonder what the general feeling is about trusting a skinny baker? Lily Vanili definitely falls under this category.
I moved to Hackney when the streets were filled with Police cordon tape, the high street was filled up with fry-up cafes , Pound shops and hoover repair shops and the only magazines that featured Hackney was ‘Real Crime Magazine’. Hackney is now regularly featured in world fashion magazines such as Vogue, the streets are filled with beard clippings and Guerrilla Gardening and the high streets are now full of estate agents, cafes and bakeries. Hackney is now not only the ‘fashion capital of the world’ but it has become associated with amazing micro breweries, artisan bakeries and some of the best cake bakers in the country. Hackney is where it’s at! And that certainly goes for Lily Vanilli, one of London’s most popular bakers. This shoot was not to show Lily with her own amazing creations but to show her with some ready made biscuits for an OFM taste test. Lily had to do a blind taste test of some of the most common biscuit brands before posing with a selection. No doubt that this was more of a chore than a pleasure for a woman who has finessed her pallet to the finest of sweet flavours.
