Last time I photographed Geri I was also in Geri’s house. The house had much the same decor apart from a few more flash cars outside. (Her new husband is the Team Principal of the Red Bull Racing Formula One team, Christian Horner. So no Ladas or Skodas in the drive way.) Her dogs were also there, a comforting thought after all these years.
Geri was warm and welcoming. I think she may have struggled to remember that I had been there 6, 7 years previously but she welcomed me like a long lost friend never the less. The groomer, her little girl and her publicist were all gathered in the kitchen for a little kitchen party whilst I prepared for the shoot, making sure not to step on the two little dogs. Geri put a vinyl Beatles album on her Gramophone player. It took us back to a time before the Spice Girls; a time where the crackling of the record needle was heard on every song played, a time where abbreviations such as “EP” and “LP” were used instead of “digi” and “lol” and a time where most people had dogs that were too big to fit in a handbag.
