Not far from where I live there is the restaurant Pidgin. It’s a small place and it has a set menu for all visitors. The place serves a set 4-course dinner every day, which takes away any dinner envy that may arise from ordering the wrong dish. However, I just never got around to going there. It’s not a place to bring kids, especially mine who have a selective pallet and like to micro manage what they eat, and I never got around to going there with mates. Pidgin now has a Micheline star. One of the head chefs who helped the place achieve a Micheline star status , Elizabeth Allen, has just left to start her own place Shibui in Marylebone. No doubt that Pidgin has lost a valuable member but I’m sure it will stand the test of time. But now the skill and flavour of the lovely Elizabeth Allen will also bless Marylebone’s more opulent palate.
