Atoosa Sepehr lives in a flat on the top of Hampstead village. A decent size flat to live in, but when you take into consideration that Atoosa has cooked up all the dishes from her recently published book, styled the dishes and taken all the photographs in the book, all from this flat, it suddenly seems little.
Atoosa had to flee her husband in Iran in a race against time before he would have had her passport removed. She came to the UK and in her spare time, cooking Persian food became cathartic as it reminded her of her own Mum’s cooking. Eventually she decided to make a cook book which was released just last week.
Atoosa puts most of us in the industry to shame. Most chefs would claim that it is enough to cook the food, most food stylists would claim that it is enough to style the food and most photographers would claim that it is enough to photograph the food. So when one person is able to execute it all then it puts us all to shame. It’s not like anything lacks in quality either. Atoosa is the one-‘man’-band of the food book industry, and its not even her full time job. I can only hope that she doesn’t choose to get into portrait photography, or we’ll all be out of a job.
