Armie Hammer and Timothée Chalamet
Working with Timothée and Armie was like working with two really good friends. They didn’t have any of the uncomfortable personal space issues that can often come with a shoot with two people, but were relaxed and very comfortable in each other’s company. They are of course big contenders for Oscars in 2018 for their film Call Me By Your Name, a film that explores the romantic relationship between a young 17 year old Italian boy (played by Timothée) and a more mature student (played by Armie). The close relationship played out in the film has allowed the actors to break down personal boundaries and be comfortable in each other’s company. In a day filled with interviews and individual shoots, it felt like my shoot with the both of them allowed them to relax and have a laugh together. It’s always nice to have a dynamic that works well in front of camera, although it can at times be hard to interrupt to get a more composed shot, especially when time is of essence. However, the shots where natural interactions are allowed to flourish are often the best – and in this case, it is also one of my favourite images from the shoot.
