Amandine Chaignot is the new chef in town! She’s currently the head chef of the exclusive Rosewood Hotel in London after having worked at some of Paris’ best establishments. Amandine came in to the room where we were setting up the equipment like a whirlwind. Questions like ‘have you had coffee?’ ‘Have you had anything to eat?’ ‘Do you want to do the shoot here?’ (referring to a conference tele room.) ‘Follow me and I’ll show you around.’ All questions fired off in two shakes of a lamb’s tale. I followed Amandine around the hotel as she flowed through the doors and corridors like a draft between two open windows. I definitely had the feeling that Amandine was a woman who got things done. The hotel was busy so it restricted what we could do. Although, what had previously seemed out of bounds were suddenly possibilities after Amandine had given the head of press at the hotel ‘a look’. Yes, the kind of look that just questions any obstacle with a question saying ‘what are you on about???’.
A little hair and make-up later we were ready. Amandine was as fiery and lively in front of camera as she had been previously. She was no stranger to being in front of the camera as she knew to move around and play about every time the shutter clicked. She’s not one for moody poses, but had fun, was playful and had a laugh. Maybe it’s the French way? Maybe it’s just Amandine and her way? What ever it was it turned the hotel into a homely and playful house instead of a stiff and traditional hotel. I am sure that working for Amandine in the kitchen is a completely different reality. She does seem like a woman who is not afraid to say what she means and that will get what she wants, just by giving you ‘THE LOOK’.
