What makes a man, Alexis Stenfors, an ex currency trader for Merrill Lynch, leave his multi million pound job to get into teaching graduates? I am afraid it is not necessarily a case of a man who’s woken up one day with a conscience, but Mr Stenfors had been booted out due to a big loss. $456 million to be precise. Now, many years after it all happened, he has written a book about his experience and the industry’s problems.
During the shoot I discussed with him what it’s like being an investor and he explained that the adrenaline and the excitement is second to none. I get nerves just by putting a few ponds on etc National Lottery so no doubt that when $456 million is on the line, I’d be looking at a heart palpitation at 3000 beats per second. Call me boring but I think I’ll settle for a modest pay, a few hours on the allotment and the excitement of betting £2 on the Lottery every 3 months.
