Caroline Walker is one of the contemporary painters I like the most. Her work has a photographic element to it, a dream feel, retro tones and themes, architectural and, (like I try with a lot of my photography,) has a great environmental presence. She is also Scottish, modest and friendly. What more could you ask of a painter? I had the pleasure of meeting her at her studio in Angel, London. I got to see her work in progress, sketches and the environment which she works in. She was taking part in a Sotheby’s exhibition of nudes. The shoot was for Sotheby’s magazine and in the backdrop were some of her nudes that she was working on for the exhibition. Far from traditional nudes but it felt more like a section of a photograph, film or even a painted, dream like paparazzi picture. Caroline’s work is the kind of work that would just look GREAT on a wall, any wall, MY WALL!
